In honour of International Women’s Day, join us on this guided walk, to hear stories of women hidden in Salford’s history.
Exploring New Bailey and Chapel Street, the walk highlights women who may appear only in the footnotes of history, or who seem merely incidental to the stories of men. Neither famous nor familiar, we recover the stories of these sidelined women.
Through tales of maternity, courage, protest, punishment, humiliation, enterprise, drinking, socialising, marriage, and murder, discover more about the ordinary lives of real women in Salford across the centuries.
Content warning: includes reference to maternal and baby loss, and suicide.
Note the walk is suitable for all adults – it is about women, not exclusively for women.
Our walk goes ahead whatever the weather, so please dress for the weather and a walk around town.
