NCP and The English Cities Fund complete new 633 space multi-storey at New Bailey, Salford11th December 2018
NCP and The English Cities Fund have today announced the completion of the Stanley Street multi-storey car park at the fund’s New Bailey development in Salford, Greater Manchester.
The English Cities Fund is a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal and General and Homes England.
The car park will bring 633 new spaces to the development and will be NCP’s third new build multi-storey car park in the area.
The car park was built by Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, the chosen contractor for this phase of the New Bailey development, and was completed two weeks ahead of schedule. The initial New Bailey car park, which includes 615 spaces and is also operated by NCP, was designed by RHWL and was also delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure.
With the New Bailey car park already running close to capacity, the new Stanley Street site, which has been designed by AHR Architects, will significantly increase the parking supply in the area, providing customers with more choice as to where and when they park.
The car park itself uses energy efficient LED lighting and is fitted with six electric vehicle charging points, along with 20 wide bays to make sure it meets the diverse needs of customers.
The new site also offers the latest customer-focused payments facilities, including Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), so those who sign up can make automated payments when they park – removing the need for them to visit kiosks or payment machines.
As NCP continues to strive to improve the customer experience at all of its car parks, all technology available in the Stanley Street car park is connected to NCP’s dedicated Customer Contact Centre based in Manchester. This means that any faults in the equipment will be self-detected and resolved quickly, helping provide customers with a more seamless parking experience.
Adam Robson, head of new builds at NCP, says: “The completion of the new Stanley Street car park marks NCP’s second multi-story car park within the New Bailey development, and our third new build in the wider Salford and Manchester area.
“We have seen ever-increasing demand within the region and are committed to meeting this through our wider portfolio-expansion strategy whereby we are looking to double the number of car parks within our estate.
“We always look to create parking facilities which best meet the needs to the local community. We have therefore used our experience of operating within the development while working closely with The English Cities Fund and the local council to identify these needs and have utilised the latest parking technology to ensure that the Stanley Street car park provides a frictionless experience for all.”
Phil Mayall, regional director at The English Cities Fund, said: “This is yet another milestone in the New Bailey regeneration programme. The first office scheme, One New Bailey is close to full occupancy, 2 New Bailey Square has now started on site and the development of Riverside House is also underway.
“In addition, the residential offering, The Slate Yard, is proving extremely successful, with both the first and second phases nearly full. With all of this activity, the population and footfall are increasing rapidly in the area and with that comes the requirement for parking, so we are very pleased to announce that the second NCP car park at New Bailey has reached completion.”
Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said: “It is important that we meet the parking demand for people that need to be in the city area. This is another step forward in the regeneration of the area and part of our long-term plan to deliver sustainable economic growth, creating long-term jobs and opportunities for local residents and local companies.”
Barry Roberts, managing director at Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure in the north, said: “I’m delighted with the project which has completed early, within budget and to a high quality whilst providing opportunities for many local people.
“Our team has thoroughly enjoyed helping to create one of the most exciting developments in Greater Manchester, and this new car park will play a crucial role in serving the ever-increasing footfall and popularity of the New Bailey development.
“The visually arresting design combines flair with functionality, and it is a fitting addition to one of the most dynamic localities in the country.”
