Quack Quack – It’s Back!
The Manchester Duck Race returns to the River Irwell for the 8th time this year! The event takes place on Good Friday, the 14th April along the riverside at New Bailey and Leftbank, Spinningfields.
The Manchester Duck Race sees thousands of rubber ducks race down the river – it costs £1 to buy a duck and enter it into the race – with all proceeds going to local children’s charity Brainwave, which works hard to help children with brain injuries benefit from a range of educational and physical therapies across the country.
THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND
ll be spread across both sides of the River Irwell with Spinningfields and New Bailey coming alive with family activities, fairground rides, and much more.
Also taking place on the day is a corporate race, in which local businesses sponsor and decorate large rubber ducks. Entrants to the corporate race are encouraged to be as creative as possible when decorating their ducks, but are not permitted to make any changes that give their duck an unfair advantage! Last year, Eison’s duck ‘Tim Beake’ won our social media competition for Best Dressed Duck, and was given some out of this world encouragement on Twitter by British astronaut Tim Peake.
